Finding Journal, News, and Magazine Articles: Step 2 - Look up the Periodical Title

Step 2 - Look Up the Periodical Title

When you have the citation information necessary to access your article, you can look for it using the tools on the UMass Global Library's website.

Click on the images below to view a larger version.

  1. Once there, select the Scholarly Sources option.

  1. Next, go to the Journal A-Z List.

Select Go to the Journal List

  1. On the Journal A-Z List, simply start typing the title of the journal, newspaper, or magazine in which the article was published.

Type in the title of the periodical you are looking for

Note: you cannot search by article title at this point. Doing so will likely result in zero results.

As you start typing the periodical title, the system may offer title suggestions, which you can select. Be sure to spell the periodical title correctly as this database does not correct for typos.

  1. Next, select the link to the database which contains the periodical you were looking for.

Click on the link to the periodical you were looking for

If you are looking for a periodical that has more than one access link, examine the publication date ranges and select the one that includes the year that matches the article you need. Otherwise, it makes no difference which access link you choose.

  1. This will take you to a contents page, where you will select the correct year and issue of the article you were seeking.
