UMass Global Library: Doctoral Support Resources

Doctoral Support

If you are in one of our doctoral programs, use this curated set of resources to meet your specific needs.

Doctoral Research Resources

Ed.D in Organizational Leadership Resource Guide: Students in the EDOL program can review this guide to learn about library resources available specifically for organizational research. Students in other doctoral programs can review the Recommended Reading section to learn how to get started with using library resources for dissertation research.

Sage Research Methods: Students can use this database to explore methods concepts to help them design research projects, understand particular methods or identify a new method, conduct their research, and write up their findings. Tools can be used across the social sciences, health sciences, and more.

Citation Managers: EndNote and Zotero: As doctoral students, you will encounter many sources that may be useful for your research. Learn  how to create, organize, and manage your bibliography by using EndNote or Zotero

Google Scholar: Extend your search by accessing resources available through Google Scholar. You can create a profile, set up alerts, and connect your Google Scholar account with the Library to be taken directly to the library's homepage when searching for sources.

WorldCat: WorldCat is an online catalog that you can use to find print books and other materials available through a library near you. Visit the WorldCat guide to learn how this resource works.

Submitting Your Dissertation

Dissertation and Clinical Scholarly Guidelines: All requirements regarding dissertations, including a checklist, style guide, and submission instructions can be found in our information guide. Please read these guidelines carefully as dissertations that do not conform to the formatting requirements may not be approved for upload. Check with your dissertation chair if you are unsure.

ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global: All doctoral students are required to submit their doctoral theses to this database, which is a collection of dissertations from around the world dating back to 1743. ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global is available only by subscription through colleges and universities.

University of Massachusetts Global Digital Commons: Students in the EDD program must ALSO submit their dissertations to the Digital Commons, UMass's Global's repository of scholarship created by faculty, students, and staff. Material posted in the Digital Commons is open access and discoverable via Google.

Online Writing Center: The Online Writing Center provides a list of pre-screened, independent professionals who are available to hire for full editing services.

Digital Commons Repository

The UMass Global Digital Commons is an open access institutional repository where scholarly papers and other projects authored by UMass Global faculty, staff, and students are collected. Material posted in our Digital Commons is open access and discoverable via Google and must therefore be free of external copyright restrictions. Types of material collected include preprints, dissertations, theses, conference papers and presentations, and other works not published elsewhere. Some book and journal publishers allow authors to post all or parts of their work in their home repositories. If you are interested in submitting your work, email the library staff.
