Ed.D Graduate Project Formatting Guidelines

Preliminary Pages Order

The Preliminary Pages require very specific wording, spacing, and layout. Sample pages are provided for your reference.

Only the following pages are included in your preliminary pages. They must appear in this order:

  1. Title page
  2. Copyright Page
  3. Acknowledgements (Optional)
  4. Abstract
  5. Table of Contents
  6. List of Figures (if applicable)

Note: A Signature Page is NOT included in your manuscript. This approval page is submitted as part of the ProQuest electronic submission of your thesis or dissertation as an administrative document.

Pagination

  • Do not number the Title Page (this page still counts toward total number of preliminary pages).
  • Begin your page numbers with the Copyright page (ii).
  • Preliminary page numbers should use lowercase Roman numerals with no other stylizations such as dashes, underlining, or other text. Your first Arabic numeral (1,2,3,4,5) begins with the first page of Chapter 1.
  • Center page numbers in the bottom margin of each page.
