Pre-Submission:
Meet with a Writing Center Tutor (Optional)
Make an appointment with a Writing Center Tutor for your basic editing and formatting questions. Writing Tutors can identify patterns of grammatical errors and answer questions, but they cannot offer line-by-line editing of an entire dissertation document.

Submit your Graduate Project to the Library:
You must have the approval of your committee and department before submitting to the library
STEP 1: Create an account in ProQuest
Go to the ProQuest ETD Administrator site and set up an account using the link provided in your acceptance email from the department.
- Ensure that you are on the UMass Global ProQuest page and not on another university's page.
- Create an account and complete all fields.
- Use an email address that you will check frequently (it doesn't have to be your student email), as this is the address to which your Acceptance email and/or Revision requests will be sent.
STEP 2: Enter thesis information in ProQuest and upload your document(s)
- Your manuscript must be a PDF when you upload. You also must have the signature page with approval from your committee. You can download a PDF from Etrieve once it has been signed.
- Your manuscript must comply with the Formatting Requirements specified in this manual and in ProQuest ETD publishing guide.
- By default, submission to ProQuest is free. However, there are a few extra services you can purchase and pay for with a credit card.
- ProQuest will also give you the option to order printed, bound copies of your dissertation/thesis in a variety of sizes.
STEP 3: Check your email
- Once you upload and submit your manuscript, you will receive a verification email from ProQuest telling you that your submission went through. This is NOT your Acceptance Email.
- Over the next three (3) - four (4) business days (excluding weekends and holidays), a librarian will be reviewing your manuscript for basic formatting. We will be reviewing the manuscripts in the order that they are received.
- Within that time, you will receive another email from ProQuest. This may be your Acceptance email, or it may be an email requesting revisions.
- If revisions are required, you must submit a revised document with corrections. Your updated resubmission is subject to the same 3-4 business day wait time.
- If your ProQuest account says that your manuscript has been accepted, but you did not receive an email, double-check that you are looking in the correct email account.
